FRITZ!Box 3370 – Service

Setting up FRITZ!Box for Internet access via the mobile network

If you use an additional mobile broadband dongle with the FRITZ!Box, the FRITZ!Box can also connect to the Internet using the mobile network and then provide Internet access to all computers in the home network.

Note:If you do not have a mobile broadband dongle, you can also configure the FRITZ!Box to use the mobile Internet connection of an Android smartphone (USB tethering).

Requirements / Restrictions

  • The mobile broadband dongle must support the mobile standard LTE (4G) or UMTS/HSPA (3G).
  • The mobile broadband dongle must support the AT command set or USB tethering.
  • Depending on the mobile network operator, Internet telephony and all other functions for which a public IP address is required (for example incoming VPN connections) are either available or available only to a limited extent.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Box.

1 Connecting a mobile broadband dongle to the FRITZ!Box

  • With the SIM card inserted, connect the mobile broadband dongle to a USB port on the FRITZ!Box.

Important:According to the USB specifications, the power consumption of a USB device may not exceed 500 mA. If the power consumption of the dongle exceeds this limit, connect it to the FRITZ!Box by means of a USB hub with its own power supply (active USB hub). The manufacturer can provide you with information on the power consumption of your mobile broadband dongle.

2 Configuring the FRITZ!Box

Preparations

  1. Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Mobile Communications" in the "Internet" menu.
  3. Check whether the section "USB Tethering" is displayed.

Configuring the Internet connection

Important:If you enter the wrong PIN three times, you must enter the PUK. Your mobile network operator can provide you with information on your PIN or PUK.

    • or, if your mobile network operator is not included in the list:
