The FRITZ!OS update for the FRITZ!Box cannot be installed.

After you select the FRITZ!OS file in the FRITZ!Box user interface, one of the following error messages is displayed:

  • "FRITZ!OS Update failed. An unspecified error occurred during the update."
  • "Attention! The specified file does not contain a FRITZ!OS released for this device by AVM."
  • "After FRITZ!OS was loaded an incorrect checksum was detected (file system)."

Important:Some of the settings described here are only displayed if the advanced view is enabled in the user interface.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the issue persists.

1 Internet service provider prevents update

Some Internet service providers prevent you from manually installing the FRITZ!OS update for your FRITZ!Box. In this case, you are either temporarily or permanently unable to use the FRITZ!Box user interface to install an update. Contact your provider directly for corresponding information and on when it will be possible to update manually, or when the Internet service provider will automatically install an update.
