Connecting FRITZ!WLAN Repeater with the home network

FRITZ!WLAN Repeater increases the wireless range (WiFi) of your home network easily and efficiently. The repeater also makes cable TV offered by your cable provider (DVB-C) available to network devices in the home network in the form of an IP stream. That means that you do not have to miss your favorite show when another family member is already using the television.

The repeater can either offer access to the home network over wireless LAN or LAN. Which type of connection is suitable for your home network depends on your requirements and the conditions at your location.

1 Connecting FRITZ!WLAN Repeater with the home network via wireless LAN

If you connect the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater with the home network via wireless LAN,

  • you must position the repeater within the wireless range of your home network.
  • you can connect devices to the repeater using LAN or wireless LAN.

If you connect the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater with the home network via LAN,

  • you can position the repeater regardless of the wireless range of the home network.
  • you can only connect devices to the repeater using LAN if you also use a hub or switch.
