Cannot switch wireless LAN off by button

The wireless network of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater does not switch off when you push the "WPS" button.

Cause

  • The option to switch wireless LAN on or off by button was removed from FRITZ!OS 6.90 so that you can set up wireless connections and integrate other FRITZ! products into your mesh WiFi at the touch of a button.

Switching the wireless function automatically

The schedule function allows you to automatically switch wireless LAN on and off at certain times. You can either use the FRITZ!Box's schedule function to switch off wireless LAN in the entire home network, or you can use the repeater's own schedule to switch just its wireless LAN off:

Setting up a schedule for the entire home network

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Schedule" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Enable the option "Use schedule for wireless radio network" and define when the wireless network should be switched off.

    Note:You can find further information on the configuration options in the FRITZ!Box's online help, which you can access by clicking the "Help" icon .

  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  5. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
  6. Click "Schedule" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  7. Enable the option "Use schedule for wireless radio network".
  8. Enable the option "Adopt timer settings from the FRITZ!Box".
  9. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Setting up an individual schedule for the repeater

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
  2. Click "Schedule" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Enable the option "Use schedule for wireless radio network" and define when the repeater's wireless network should be switched off.
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

You can use the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater to switch wireless LAN off manually:

Disabling adoption of the settings

The following steps are only necessary if you are using the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater with a FRITZ!Box, and the repeater is already integrated into the mesh WiFi:

  1. Click "Home Network" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Home Network Overview" in the "Home Network" menu.
  3. Click on the name of the device (in bold blue letters) next to the picture of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater to call up its user interface.
  4. In the new window, enter the repeater's password to log into the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater's user interface.

    Important:If you did not assign a unique password to the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater, enter the password or user data of your FRITZ!Box to log in.

  5. Click "Access to Home Network" in the repeater's user interface.
  6. Disable the option "Automatically adopt wireless LAN settings".
  7. Click "Apply" to save your entry.

Switching the wireless network off

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
  2. Click "Radio Network" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Disable the option "Wireless radio network enabled".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

The repeater's wireless network is now switched off. You can switch the wireless network back on whenever you want at the touch of a button.
