Cannot turn wireless LAN off by button

The FRITZ!WLAN Repeater' wireless network does not turn off when you press the "WPS" button.

Cause

  • The option to turn wireless LAN on or off by button was removed from FRITZ!OS 6.90 so that you can integrate wireless devices into your mesh WiFi at the touch of a button.

Switching the wireless function automatically

The schedule function allows you to automatically turn wireless LAN on and off at certain times. You can either use the FRITZ!Box's schedule function to turn off wireless LAN in the entire home network, or you can use the repeater's own schedule to turn just its wireless LAN off:

Setting up a schedule for the entire home network

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Schedule" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Enable the option "Use schedule for wireless radio network" and define when the wireless network should be turned off.

    Note:You can find further information on the configuration options in the FRITZ!Box's online help, which you can access by clicking the "Help" icon .

  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Setting up an individual schedule for the repeater

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
  2. Click "Schedule" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Enable the option "Use schedule for wireless radio network" and define when the repeater's wireless network should be turned off.
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Switching the wireless function manually

You can use the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater to turn wireless LAN off manually:

Disabling adoption of the settings

  1. Click "Home Network" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Home Network Overview" in the "Home Network" menu.
  3. Click on the name of the device (in bold blue letters) next to the picture of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater to call up its user interface.
  4. In the new window, enter the repeater's password to log into the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater's user interface.

    Important:If you did not set up a unique password for the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater, enter the password or user data of your FRITZ!Box to log in.

  5. Click "Access to Home Network" in the repeater's user interface.
  6. Disable the option "Adopt settings from the FRITZ!Box".
  7. Click "Apply" to save your entry.

Turning off the wireless network

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
  2. Click "Radio Network" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Disable the option "Wireless radio network enabled".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

The repeater's wireless network is now turned off. You can turn the wireless network back on whenever you want at the touch of a button.
