FRITZ!WLAN Stick AC 430 – Service

Cannot establish a wireless connection

Although the FRITZ!WLAN Stick can find the wireless network (WiFi) of your wireless router (for example FRITZ!Box), the stick cannot establish a connection to the wireless router.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the issue persists.

1 The wireless network cannot be found

  • If the wireless network of the wireless router is not found, proceed as describedin this guide.
    • Here is how to check whether the wireless network can be found:
    • Windows 10

      1. Click "Settings" in the Windows start menu.
      2. Click "Network and Internet" and then "Wi-Fi" in the "Settings" menu.
      3. Check whether the name of the wireless network (SSID) is displayed in the list of available connections.
    • Windows 8

      1. Press the keyboard shortcut "Windows key" + "C".
        • The Windows sidebar now opens.
      2. Click "Settings" and then the wireless icon in the Windows sidebar.
      3. Check whether the name of the wireless network (SSID) is displayed in the list of available connections.
    • Windows 7

      1. Click the wireless icon in the notification area of the Windows taskbar (Systray).
      2. Check whether the name of the wireless network (SSID) is displayed in the list of available connections.

2 Briefly disabling the MAC address filter

The wireless router's MAC address filter may not be enabled during configuration:

Note:We used a FRITZ!Box as an example for configuration. You can find information on configuring a different router in its manual, or consult the manufacturer directly.

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Security" or "Radio Network" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Enable the option "Allow all new wireless devices".
  4. Click "Apply" to save your settings.

The MAC address filter is now disabled. You can re-enable it as soon as you have completed the configuration of the wireless connection between the FRITZ!WLAN Stick and the wireless router.

3 Installing the latest driver for the FRITZ!WLAN Stick

4 Reconfiguring the wireless connection

Setting up the wireless connection automatically

Perform the following steps if you are using a FRITZ!Box with a USB port as the wireless router:

  1. Insert the FRITZ!WLAN Stick into the USB port on the FRITZ!Box.

Note:The wireless security settings are transmitted to the FRITZ!WLAN Stick using Stick & Surf. Once the procedure is completed, the "Info" LED on the FRITZ!Box remains lit.
